A new food truck will be serving up empanadas, fries, and more all over Pinellas County starting this fall. Called Nonna’s Empanada, the new family-operated food trailer will serve empanadas from the popular Seminole restaurant Empanada Brothers.

“I’ve been in the food industry since I was fifteen, from server up to restaurant manager,” Christy, the owner of Nonna’s Empanada, told What Now on Thursday. After a number of years, Christy felt it was time to start a project of her own.

The biggest draw for Nonna’s Empanada may be that, because its are empanadas made with corn flour, they are all gluten-free—as are all the food trailer’s other offerings.

“It’s 100% gluten-free, Celiac-friendly. We don’t sell anything else that might jeopardize that, so there’s no cross-contamination.”

In addition to empanadas, Nonna’s Empanada’s menu will feature fries, yucca fries, soft drinks, and coffee drinks like cafe con leche.

Keep an eye out for Nonna’s Empanada coming soon! The food truck is working toward an opening at the end of October.
