Spinx, South Carolina’s home-grown combination fueling station, convenience store, and food-on-the-go restaurant, is expanding in West Columbia. According to coverage published this week by The State, a new Spinx is currently under construction at 3620 Augusta Road.

Founded in 1972 by Stewart Spinks, Spinx is finding its moment as it—together with brands like Buc-ee’s, Casey’s, and Parker’s Kitchen—proves that the combination of fuel, convenience, and food is a clear winner in an always-competitive market.

“[Stewart Spinks] took a leap of faith after working for Shell Oil Company and purchased his first gas station at the intersection of Laurens Road and E Washington Street in Greenville, SC,” says the Spinx website. “Over the years, the company has grown to incorporate convenience stores, car wash and the legendary Spinx fried chicken. Since the beginning, Stewart’s goal has always been to make customers’ lives easier.”

“Through the years Spinx grew its operations, particularly as it relates to food options,” The State coverage says. “The company has been known for its fried chicken, which it deems “legendary,” with bone-in, tenders and nuggets available. Spinx also carries a number of breakfast items, including chicken biscuits, sausage biscuits, hash browns and more.”

Opening at 3620 Augusta Road, the new Spinx would be situated near Pulga Lexington.
