A pair of local thrift shops is adding a third location to its Massachusetts portfolio.
East Coast Thrift is set to take over the former JoAnn Fabrics space at 244 Worcester Street in Natick, according to the Natick Report. A company representative briefly confirmed the upcoming opening with What Now Boston but has not yet provided additional details.
The Natick shop will join East Coast Thrift’s existing locations in Spencer and Clinton, continuing the brand’s expansion less than three years after its first store opened. The original Spencer location was launched in spring 2024, followed by the Clinton shop, which opened just last month.
Across its stores, East Coast Thrift offers an ever-changing selection of affordable secondhand finds, including clothing for all genders and ages, shoes, housewares, electronics, books, jewelry, and other one-of-a-kind treasures. Shoppers looking for something a little more special can browse the store’s boutique sections for designer finds at thrift-friendly prices.
The brand describes its approach as combining fashion, affordability, and sustainability, aiming to give traditional thrifting a more curated feel. “Our trendy thrift store prides itself on an exclusive selection of second-hand items,” reads the website. “Join us in redefining thrifting into a fashionable and eco-conscious experience. Recently filed permits for the Worcester Street space indicate that the Natick store will undergo an interior buildout that includes the installation of three fitting rooms, an expanded production area, and a new break room. The project also includes an exterior alteration, with an estimated building cost of $39,500.
Although an official opening date has not yet been released, the Natick Report mentions that East Coast Thrift is expected to announce its opening timeline by the end of 2026.
