An American ice cream chain with more than 30 years of history is expanding to Collin County. According to public filings, Cold Stone Creamery plans to open a new location at 305 E. Farm to Market 544, Suite 908, inside Murphy Marketplace.
Cold Stone Creamery is known for its made-to-order ice cream, mixed on a frozen granite stone with customers’ choice of mix-ins, alongside signature cake and shake offerings.
Founded in Tempe, Arizona, in 1988 by Donald and Susan Sutherland, the chain has grown into one of the country’s most recognizable ice cream franchises, with locations across the U.S. and internationally.
What Now Dallas reached out to franchisee Anteneh Abera, who said he’s targeting a spring 2027 opening, pending permits and construction timelines. However, that timeframe is not definitive as the project is in its early stage.
Asked about his decision to franchise with Cold Stone Creamery specifically, Abera said the brand’s reputation, along with recommendations from family and friends, played a significant role.
Abera also described Murphy as an appealing market for the concept, largely due to its growth and proximity to the surrounding market.
Murphy Marketplace sits along the Farm to Market 544 corridor in Collin County, an area that has continued to attract new retail and restaurant development amid the region’s ongoing residential growth.
