Taqueria El Puerto De Vallarta plans to open a second location at 8409 Elk Grove Florin Road, manager Oscar Duran confirmed to What Now Sacramento. The business just took possession of the building and is targeting a February or March opening once permitting clears, according to Duran. The taqueria’s first location has operated for roughly three to four months after a renovation and restructuring of a longtime family-run spot previously known as Shop Hopper.
The menu leans on seafood and classic Mexican fare, including tostadas, mariscadas and carne asada, alongside tacos and enchiladas, Duran explained. Outdoor seating at the new spot will be limited to about a dozen to sixteen guests, and hours will wrap up by 10 p.m. since the business centers on food rather than late-night drinks, matching the format at the original location.
The new spot sits in a shopping center Duran described as anchored by established names, including a Bel-Air grocery store and a nearby gym, giving the taqueria a built-in flow of daily foot traffic. Elk Grove’s retail corridors have continued to draw new restaurant tenants in recent years as the city’s population has grown, and Duran sees the second location as a natural extension of that momentum rather than a risk.
Renovations are already underway on the roughly 2,500-square-foot space, and combined with permitting delays, the buildout is expected to keep the timeline in the several-month range. For nearby customers.
