Locals will soon be jogging to a new running destination in the suburb’s downtown.

Following their success in Brighton, the owners of Running Lab are introducing a second location at 33211 Grand River Avenue in Farmington. This will be the team’s first time expanding since their 2011 debut. Co-owner Ken Larscheid told What Now Detroit he is shooting for a February 2027 opening date.

Opened by Larscheid and Toni Reese, the store has become a staple destination for local runners in Brighton. Last year, Running Lab won “Best Running Store of the Year at The Running Event conference in San Antonio, Texas. For their new spot, the two wanted to operate in another downtown as it helps build a community of runners.

“It feels fitting for the Best Running Store in America to open its second location on one of America’s best Main Streets,” Reese said in a press release.

The Brighton store at 409 W Main Street sells men and women’s running gear, with of course many shoe options to choose from. Brands sold include Nike, Hoka, Brooks and New Balance. Other apparel is sold such as tops, jackets, pants and skirts.

Running Lab’s new storefront is on the south end of Grand River Avenue, across from Cottage Inn Pizza and Los Tres Amigos. This is near the major intersection of Farmington Road in the downtown area. Metropolitan Center Office gym was also listed at this location.
