Organic and fresh options are coming to a vacant store in the next few years.
Sprouts Farmers Market has secured a new Metro Detroit site, at 22332 Nine Mile Road in St. Clair Shores. This was formerly a Kroger serving the area. The estimated opening date is not until sometime in 2029.
The chain operates like many grocery stores, but is known for organic, plant-based and gluten-free options. Products like herb season roasted chicken and their Market Corner creamed kale and spinach have become popular. Right now, the company has 480 locations across 25 states, making it one of the larger grocery retailers in the country.
“Guided by our purpose to help people live and eat better by making healthy, natural and organic products accessible to everyone, Sprouts Farmers Market can confirm it has signed a lease in St. Clair Shores, Michigan,” says a statement from Sprouts.
The site is on the south side of E 9 Mile Road, between 9 Mack Drive and Alice Street. This is across the street from the plaza featuring Shores Yoga, A J Nails & Spa and Fantastic Sams Cut & Color. The area is the south side of St. Clair Shores and near the border of Grosse Pointe Woods.
As the lease was just signed, renovations at the space will not start until 2027. More information on Sprouts Farmers Market and future locations can be found on their website.
