Jacksonville’s Mandarin neighborhood could soon have another place for hand-cut steaks, ribs and freshly baked rolls.
Texas Roadhouse is planning a new restaurant at 9716 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, according to city permit filings. The restaurant is planned for the site of a former Fifth Third Bank near the intersection of San Jose Boulevard and Kori Road.
Plans call for 8,403 square feet of interior space, with an additional outdoor patio bringing the total area to 8,879 square feet. The restaurant is expected to accommodate 308 guests indoors and another 32 on the patio.
Texas Roadhouse is known for its hand-cut steaks, slow-cooked ribs and made-from-scratch sides. The menu also includes chicken, salmon, catfish, shrimp, burgers, salads and desserts. Fresh-baked rolls served with honey cinnamon butter are another signature of the chain.
The restaurant’s menu features steak options such as sirloin, New York strip and ribeye, alongside combinations that pair steak with ribs, chicken or shrimp. Guests can also choose from a range of sides, including seasoned rice, mashed potatoes, vegetables and steak fries.
Founded by Kent Taylor in Clarksville, Indiana, in 1993, Texas Roadhouse has grown into a national restaurant chain with more than 700 locations across the United States and additional restaurants internationally. The company emphasizes made-from-scratch food and has an in-house meat cutter at each location to prepare its steaks.
The Mandarin restaurant would add to the chain’s existing presence in Northeast Florida, where Texas Roadhouse already operates locations in Jacksonville, Orange Park and St. Augustine.
The project is being developed on a 2.19-acre site owned by Jacksonville-based Ash Properties.
A construction timeline and opening date have not yet been announced. For more information visit Texas Roadhouse’s website.
