Giorgio’s Pizzeria is planning to open on Fourth Street in San Rafael at 1613 4th St, San Rafael. The restaurant announced the expansion in a post on its website, which said construction was underway and that it expected to open in late 2025 or early 2026. An updated opening date has not been announced. The original Giorgio’s operates at 151 Clement St. in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond District.

Giorgio Anastasio, who was born on the Italian island of Ischia, opened Giorgio’s Pizzeria at Clement Street and Third Avenue in San Francisco in 1972, according to the restaurant’s website. In 1978, brothers Tony and Victor Contini took over the business. The Contini family still owns and operates the pizzeria, and its sauce is still made from Anastasio’s original recipe.

According to the menu, pizzas are made on a New York-style crust with a slightly thicker edge and come in sizes from 9 to 17 inches. Specialty pies include Giorgio’s Special with pepperoni, salami, mushrooms, and sausage, as well as Hot Honey Pepperoni and Caramelized Calabrian. Calzones are named after San Francisco streets and landmarks, including the Balboa, Masonic, Divisadero, and Golden Gate.

The menu also includes pastas such as spaghetti with Giorgio’s original all-beef meat sauce and ravioli with meatballs, along with a build-your-own pasta option. Other dishes include lasagna, chicken parmigiana, Italian subs, meatball sandwiches, salads, and starters like zesty shrimp. Gluten-free crust and vegan cheese are available.
