Annapurna Cafe is preparing to relocate from 1833 Broadway to a street-level space in the Brix building at 538 Broadway E., according to Capitol Hill Seattle Blog.

Owners Sujan Sharma and Roshita Shrestha submitted permit paperwork late this summer for the future space, which currently houses Star Sushi & Bar. The couple purchased the commercial condo several years ago and have been leasing it to the sushi restaurant.

Plans include a kitchen overhaul and an interior redesign with Nos Narin of Catch Design Studio. The work remains subject to city approval, and an opening date has not been announced.

What Now Seattle contacted Roshita Shrestha, who said the team does not yet know when the restaurant will move and is not ready to share further details. For now, Annapurna continues operating in its below-street-level dining room at 1833 Broadway.

Sharma and Shrestha opened the restaurant in May 2003, introducing Capitol Hill diners to dishes from Nepal, India, and Tibet. They later expanded upstairs with Yeti Bar in 2015.

Shrestha’s cooking draws on her upbringing in Nepal and time spent learning about food in India and Tibet. The current menu includes chicken and spinach momos, curries, noodle soups, and breads such as naan and sel roti. The restaurant offers a full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails.
