A top DMV hospitality group is shifting its gaze from restaurants to wellness. Knead Hospitality & Design is exploring the possibility of introducing a unique and luxurious retreat called Sagrada Mia Sanctuary to Loudoun County, reports the Washington Business Journal.
The proposed concept is still in preliminary stages; The Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast Inn is still operating on the 47 acre patch of land Knead is hoping to move into. Pre-application documents about Sagrada Mia Sanctuary offer a glimpse at the aim of the spa, saying: “The intent is to preserve the rural landscape while shifting activity away from large gatherings toward quieter, scheduled wellness experiences primarily serving registered overnight guests”.
If all goes according to plan, Sagrada Mia will have 20 guest suites. The company’s website explains what it hopes it will offer guests, saying: “We curate transformative experiences – from yoga and meditation to sound baths, massage, movement practices, and botanical wellness – each infused with intentional design and ceremonial practice.”
A great deal of work would be required to transition the property into Sagrada Mia’s new home. In addition to the 20 guest cabins, the proposed site plan calls for 3 buildings dedicated to wellness programming, a pool and spa facility, and the demolition of a barn and silo.
While Sagrada Mia is still in its nascent stage, should all go according to plan the retreat could be open at some point in 2028.
