A creative and gourmet sandwich shop, Dragon Hero, is preparing to bid farewell to the community. The Washington, DC sandwich spot will close permanently after serving its last sandwich this Thursday. The team behind the eatery shared the announcement on social media with a farewell message.

Dragon Hero DC to Close Permanently

Inspired by legendary dragon-slaying heroes from cultures around the world, Dragon Hero features a menu of sandwiches named after mythical figures. Situated in the heart of the Shaw neighborhood, the menu offers 12-inch sub sandwiches that are named after legendary heroes. Menu options include the King Arthur, St. George, Siegfried, and Mario subs.

In an Instagram post, owner and chef Adam Campbell announced that Dragon Hero, located at 2016 9th St. NW, will close permanently. The owner wrote, “It is with heavy hearts that we’re announcing Dragon Hero will close on Nov 5th.”

The owner also thanked the community and customers for their support. He also added a note of appreciation for the staff and said, “I also want to personally thank all the DH staff past and present that have worked so hard to make the shop possible.”

Following the closure announcement, several customers of the restaurant expressed their disappointment on social media.

One of the regular customers wrote, “Everyone who ate there loved it. We spent time discussing which sub we loved the most. Seriously, the best subs I’ve had.”

About the Sandwich Shop and its Owner

Chef Adam Campbell and his longtime hometown friend, William Brancati, together founded Dragon Hero DC. The menu includes each sandwich that is named after a fictional character or mythical hero and offers bold flavors and innovation.

Chef Campbell, originally from Roanoke, Virginia, is backed by years of culinary experience. Campbell began his culinary career at Brambleton Deli and BBQ before moving to Richmond at age 21, where he worked at the Berkeley Hotel and Balliceaux. He later joined Rappahannock Oyster Company.

With his creative skills and flavors, Campbell’s Dragon Hero gained a strong following in the community. At the shop, all subs are prepared fresh to order with homemade ingredients, including hand-packed meatballs, house-smoked turkey, and slow-roasted beef.

In the closure announcement post, the owner encouraged the community to visit the shop and enjoy their favorite Dragon Hero sandwich before its permanent closure.
