Seafood, tacos and beer are making their way to another San Diego coastal community. Shoots, the seafood restaurant concept with locations in Oceanside and Carlsbad, is planning a third restaurant in Leucadia, with an opening targeted for late 2027.
According to San Diego Magazine, the new location will bring its seafood-focused menu, craft beer program and community-oriented events to 914 N. Coast Highway 101. The project will include approximately 1,300 square feet of indoor space and a 400-square-foot outdoor patio.
What Now San Diego reached out to co-founder Chris Slowey, who confirmed that Leucadia was a natural next step for the brand. He described the coastal community as a good fit for a concept rooted in surfing, skating and beach culture.
“The coastal communities really fit with the brand with just fresh fish and the surf and skate lifestyle that the brand is,” he said.
Shoots began in late 2021 inside Bottlecraft at Tremont Collective in Oceanside, where it introduced poke bowls and tacos made with locally caught seafood. In 2023, the concept opened its first standalone location in Carlsbad, adding its own craft beer program and signature house beer. In 2025, What Now San Diego covered that Shoots would take over management of its original Oceanside space, including the 30-tap bar and retail beverage shop.
Slowey told What Now San Diego that each location develops a slightly different menu based on its neighborhood and customer preferences. Community events will also remain part of the concept, with the Leucadia team looking to connect with local surfers, organizations and other community partners.
Potential events include surf-film premieres, free movie screenings and live music. The restaurant is also expected to feature a large outdoor patio designed as a gathering space.
The Leucadia restaurant is part of a longer-term expansion plan. Slowey told What Now San Diego the partners ultimately envision operating four or five locations and are exploring other coastal communities, including San Clemente, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Bird Rock.
For now, the priority is opening and establishing the Leucadia restaurant. Slowey said the team is excited about bringing Shoots to Leucadia and encouraged by the positive response they have received from the neighborhood.
