16 Handles, the New York-born frozen yogurt franchise where you can “Let the good times swirl!” is expanding to Sarasota next year. According to submitted plan review documents, the new 16 Handles will open at 6123 S Tamiami Trl, where it will be situated between Samba Brazilian Steakhouse and Pho 101 Noodle House.

“We’re the fastest-growing frozen yogurt brand in the U.S.,” Fred Frey, Vice President of Franchise Development at 16 Handles, told What Now on Monday. “We have 43 locations, and another 67 in development.”

The growth in Florida is particularly striking. In addition to the Sarasota location, another 16 Handles is set to open in Fort Myers next month, Frey says, and an additional agreement is in the works that would bring the brand to the Westchase area.

“Florida has been our fastest-growing state,” Frey said. “We’ve opened four shops in the last two years, and we have another 14 or 15 under development.”

The brand expects to launch about 30 new locations nationwide in 2027.

The brand’s classic self-serve approach allows guests to assemble their own confection with toppings and 16 different froyo flavors. In addition to its rotating flavors, 16 Handles debuts a new flavor each month. For November, it’s Banana Pudding, with ripe bananas, Nilla Wafers, and creamy vanilla.

“With 16 rotating flavors and endless toppings bar at every shop, 16 Handles believes that quality and deliciousness go hand in hand,” says the 16 Handles website. “Our library of Artisan flavors includes better-for-you frozen yogurt, all-natural ice cream, and the best vegan options on the market—like oatmilk soft serve and real fruit sorbets. Come experience what makes 16 Handles different, and celebrate the sweetest side of life, in our shops or online for pickup or local delivery.”
