A Japanese BYOB restaurant will bring traditional Japanese dining to Fishtown when it opens this fall.

Nomu Nomu Don, from the team behind Cake & Joe, will debut at 2026 Frankford Ave., Wooderice.com reported.

Cake & Joe is a Philadelphia-based bakery and cafe known for its handcrafted mousse cakes, pastries, specialty coffee and Asian-inspired drinks.

The shop operates three Philadelphia locations in Center City, Pennsport and Fishtown, with its Fishtown outpost also located on Frankford Ave. near the upcoming Nomu Nomu Don.

“Fishtown has been so great to Cake & Joe, so opening Nomu Nomu just a few feet away was a really easy decision,” owner Sarah Qi told the outlet.

Nomu Nomu Don plans an intimate 750-square-foot space with 18 seats, including 10 at a sushi bar where the chef will prepare meals in front of guests.

The restaurant will offer donburi, Japanese rice bowls topped with prepared ingredients, and teishoku, traditional set meals accompanied by sides and soup.

The donburi menu features raw bluefin tuna, salmon five ways and grilled eel with tamago. Additional offerings include steak with cloud butter and toro with Hokkaido scallops, alongside seasonal specials.

With no hood or fryers in the kitchen, all seafood and meat will be served raw or grilled.

Nomu Nomu Don plans to open in November, operating Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
