Acclaimed Henrietta Red Set To Close in 2027
Located in the heart of the Germantown neighborhood, Henrietta Red is an elevated seafood restaurant. It features a vibrant and sophisticated atmosphere with sustainably sourced seafood, an extensive oyster selection, and a well-curated bar program.
Operated by Nashville-based chef Julia Sullivan, the restaurant offers a menu prepared with classic techniques and Southern flavors. The restaurant also includes a full-service bar area.
Through a social media announcement, the restaurant owner shared the closure news. The restaurant, situated at 1200 4th Ave N, Nashville, will shut down permanently in April 2027.
Reflecting on her journey in the community, the owner wrote, “From the initial ideation, to the pitch deck, to breaking ground in Germantown, the journey spans far more than ten years, and I am grateful for every lesson I’ve learned along the way.”
Over its decade of operation, the restaurant has earned several awards and recognitions. In 2019, the chef-owner, Julia, was named a semifinalist in the James Beard Awards. She was also nominated for the Best Chef Southeast by the James Beard Awards in 2020.
Apart from Henrietta Red, Julia also operates Judith Tavern, opened in 2024, in Sewanee beside the Sewanee Market.

Reason Behind the Closure
In the post, the owner explained that the lease of the restaurant is ending and the property has been listed for sale. She added, “Our ten-year run at Henrietta Red will come to an end at the conclusion of our lease term, in April 2027.”
With a heavy heart, the owner shared the closure news to inform the restaurant staff and customers about the shutdown.
She thanked the staff, vendors, and oyster growers for their support. In the post, she also added a farewell message for the guests and community members and said, “Thank you to our guests and community for trusting us with life’s greatest moments – from first dates, engagements, weddings, and anniversaries to baby showers and birthdays.”
The owner encourages the community to stop by and enjoy more meals until its final day of service.
