As detailed in a recent press release, Spaghetti Warehouse will be reopening this fall in a new location near Columbus Commons, at 150 S High St. The iconic Italian eatery has been on a hiatus since closing in spring of 2022 due to the roof collapsing at their previous location on W. Broad St., where they had been operating since 1978.
Although the move was necessary, Spaghetti Warehouse president Ron Reynolds tells What Now Columbus that when the team set out to choose a new location for the restaurant, they weren’t just looking for a new home for the iconic eatery. There was the added challenge of finding a space that would allow them to replicate the large square footage and vintage aesthetics that their legacy location was known for. The W. Broad building was a sprawling 20,000 square foot space that was an estimated 130 years old, and finding a location with that much space, and character, presented the team with an opportunity to reimagine the eatery in a new way.
“It’s difficult to find those legacy buildings in the modern world,” Reynolds said. “The original location was renowned for multiple rooms and eclectic artifacts from around the world.”
Reynolds went on to explain that when they open on S High St. this fall, guests can expect to find hints of the legacy location weaved throughout the new space, like some artifacts from the original building, and the iconic trolley, a staple piece of decor from the legacy location, will also be worked into the restaurant’s design. And relocating to a downtown location with paid parking was something the Spaghetti Warehouse team wanted to ensure wouldn’t be a pain point for their returning and new customers alike.
“It was important that we didn’t lose the family feel and affordability in the new location,” Reynolds said. They’re addressing affordability by working with the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation to offer parking validation for all restaurant guests.
Updated menu offerings will also ensure affordability and will include varied price points, while retaining items customers know and love. The menu will strike a balance of modern takes on appetizers and entrees, as well as their signature items, including the 15-layer lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, sourdough bread and Italian wedding soup. Spaghetti Warehouse at the Commons will also offer quick service items, grab-and-go options and other twists on the menu to make delivery and takeout easier.
