A local food truck is working on its first brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Momma’s Cup of Rice is planned for 369 Fayette Place in Fayetteville. The menu includes rice bowls in several varieties and flavors, including ones with chicken, shrimp, steak, vegetables and more. Mocktails and desserts round out the offerings.

Recent bowls served by Momma’s Cup of Rice include the Family Vacation Cup (grilled shrimp, toasted coconut and sweet chili pineapple sauce) and the Brats BBQ Cup (barbecue grilled chicken, crispy fried onions and smoky sweet barbecue sauce, with a side of coleslaw).

The concept comes from Marissa Kelly, inspired by her grandmother’s famous fried rice, and her mother.

The business has been operating as a food truck for several years; the Fayetteville shop will be their first brick-and-mortar restaurant. Momma’s Cup of Rice LLC was first registered in December 2022, according to a filing with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
