Brooms Matcha, the Austin matcha concept known for its high-quality Uji, Kyoto matcha, handmade preparation technique, and earthy interior design, may be planning to return to South Lamar. According to public filings, the brand is planning to reopen at 2324 S. Lamar Blvd., Unit 100, where a 647-square-foot remodel is currently in permitting.
What Now Austin reached out to founder Hyeon Lee but did not receive a response prior to publication. The brand’s social media, however, is signaling a late-summer opening.
The comeback marks a new chapter for a concept that made a strong first impression. Brooms Matcha originally opened in June 2025 at 3005 S. Lamar Blvd., Suite D-114B, operating on weekends with limited hours. The concept quickly found a loyal following in Austin’s specialty beverage scene.
In August 2025, the ownership announced a closure, while pointing out they’d come back with “Big, exciting changes […] with more days, longer hours, and an expanded menu.” Almost a year later, Brooms Matcha LLC was registered in June 2026.
The new address is within walking distance of Brooms Matcha’s first location, marking a return to a neighborhood that has embraced the concept with enthusiasm and to a community that has been waiting for its return.
