New signage for Saloniki Greek has gone up in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, raising questions about the local chain’s plans for the area.
The sign, which reads “coming soon,” was recently spotted outside the former home of Regina Pizzeria at 1330 Boylston Street, according to a post shared in the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants Facebook group.
The development has caused some confusion among locals, as the popular Greek concept already operates a Fenway outpost just a block away at 4 Kilmarnock St. It’s currently unclear whether the Boylston Street space will serve as an additional location or a relocation, and representatives for the restaurant could not be reached for comment.
Founded in 2016, Saloniki Greek was launched through a partnership between celebrated chef Jody Adams and local restaurateur Eric Papachristos of A Street Hospitality. The group is behind several well-known Boston concepts, including La Padrona, Trade, Porto, and The Venetian.
Over the years, Soloniki has expanded to five outposts across Greater Boston, with existing locations in the Fenway, Cambridge, Newbury Street, and One Beacon Street. The restaurant is known for its fast-casual Greek-inspired menu featuring customizable wraps, sandwiches, plates, salads, sides, and desserts.
Today, the brand debuted its first-ever Saloniki Greek FroYo Window at its Newbury Street location, describing it on Instagram as being “built for walk-up swirls, sunny afternoons, post-shopping treats, and the kind of summer nights Newbury Street does best.”
An opening timeline for the Boylston Street location has not yet been announced, and additional details remain under wraps. What Now Boston will update this story as more information becomes available.
