Tavern in the Square is gearing up for a busy end to the summer, with a major renovation underway at one longtime location and a brand-new restaurant on the horizon.
The polished-casual restaurant and bar, part of Broadway Hospitality Group (BHG), has temporarily closed its Burlington restaurant at 100 District Avenue for an extensive interior refresh. Simultaneously, the growing New England chain is preparing to debut a new Tavern in the Square in the former Bertucci’s space at 435 Andover Street in North Andover.
According to a company representative, the renovated Burlington restaurant will feature updated color treatments, modern fixtures, and new lighting while maintaining the warm, welcoming atmosphere guests have come to expect. As Tavern in the Square’s first location outside the Boston area, the restaurant was due for a refresh.
“While the space itself is beautiful with incredible natural light, it was time to add some fresh interior details that emphasize our goal of being the community’s gathering place,” the representative told What Now Boston.
The redesign is intended to create a more contemporary experience while preserving the neighborhood feel that has made the restaurant a local favorite.
“With this renovation, our goal was to reimagine Tavern in the Square Burlington as a modern, energetic gathering place that reflects how people want to dine and socialize today,” said Stephen DeSousa, CEO of BHG, in a statement. “Every element of the space was thoughtfully redesigned to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, inviting, and effortlessly comfortable – whether you’re meeting friends for drinks, enjoying dinner with family, or settling in to watch the game. Beyond the updated design, we wanted to create a restaurant that our team is proud to call their own. That sense of ownership and pride is reflected in the hospitality our guests experience every day. We’re excited to welcome the Burlington community back and introduce them to a completely reimagined Tavern in the Square.”
Both the renovated Burlington restaurant and the upcoming North Andover location will serve Tavern in the Square’s signature menu of scratch-made American favorites, including burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, bowls, pastas, and craft cocktails. Guests can also expect seasonal additions, with fall-inspired beers and pumpkin cocktails to arrive as the weather begins to cool.
While an official reopening date has not yet been announced, Broadway Hospitality Group hopes to welcome guests back to its renovated Burlington restaurant in late August 2026. The new North Andover location is expected to follow toward the end of September.
