A new woman-owned fabric shop is stitching together plans for a brick-and-mortar home on the North Shore.
Forager Fabrics will open its first physical storefront on the fourth floor of Mills 58, Building A in Peabody, located at 58 Pulaski Street, Suite A4-10. Founder Sarah Bushway recently announced that she has signed a one-year lease for the space beginning in August 2026.
“I have been dreaming of this day since I opened my small online fabric store back in 2024, and I just couldn’t wait any longer,” wrote Bushway on Instagram. “If you know me you know, this business means everything to me. It’s all I think about, all I dream about, and all I talk about (thank you to all of my friends and family for listening!). I am beyond excited to share this passion that I have for sewing with my North Shore community.”
Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Salem, Forager Fabrics has built an online following with its curated selection of ethically sourced deadstock fabrics, secondhand and sustainable textiles, and sewing supplies.
The new storefront will expand on that mission with fabrics sold by the yard alongside secondhand textiles, with a focus on garment-making materials. Bushway told What Now Boston that she prioritizes natural fibers such as linen, cotton, and bamboo, while also stocking a selection of quilting cottons. Additionally, shoppers will find essential sewing notions, including thread, zippers, buttons, and interfacing.
The shop will also offer classes, including Beginner Sewing 101, where students will learn to thread a sewing machine, sew a straight line, and make a lined tote bag; intermediate garment sewing classes covering everything from selecting fabric and reading patterns to constructing a finished garment; and mending workshops focused on practical skills like hemming jeans, sewing on buttons, and repairing holes.
Bushway is also partnering with local makers to bring quilting, embroidery, and other fiber arts classes to the space. She says her goal is to create a welcoming community where people of all experience levels feel inspired to learn, create, and build confidence through sewing. “I hope to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, capable, and empowered to create and learn,” she wrote.
The shop will initially be open for retail on Saturdays and Sundays, with weekday visits available by appointment. Bushway hopes to expand those hours as the business grows.
Mills 58 is currently undergoing renovations, including the installation of a new elevator, with Forager Fabrics aiming to welcome guests in mid-August 2026.
