Mozzo is serving up expansion plans as owner Shannon Campbell grows the deli’s presence across Charleston.
“Big news coming out of Mozzo…Mozzo #4 is officially on the way—lease has just been signed right here in the Charleston area. That’s right, we’re growing again,” an Instagram post read.
An official location has not been unveiled yet, but many commenters are already hoping the sandwich shop chooses a site near them, with Summerville, Daniel Island, West Ashley and Clements Ferry among the most-requested locations.
Campbell’s journey in the deli industry began during his teenage years in Connecticut.
“What I love about the deli is that, up north, they’re on every corner, and they’re an extension of the owner—the environment, the culture they were raised in; these are all parts that make up their deli. I was able to basically just take all these lessons in life and instill them, so all these sandwiches are experiences,” he said in a video on the website.
Mozzo serves breakfast classics, including egg sandwiches, omelets, French toast and pastries. For lunch, the menu features burgers, salads, and a variety of deli sandwiches with veggie, chicken, pork and beef options, as well as a build-your-own selection.
The name Mozzo refers to a region in Italy and translates to “the center of activity,” a nod to Campbell’s emphasis on community and building relationships with customers, ensuring they remain at the heart of each location.
The fourth location will join Mozzo’s existing outposts on Coleman Boulevard and in Carolina Park in Mount Pleasant, as well as its downtown Charleston location on Meeting Street. Stay tuned for the official location reveal.
