A new culinary vision is on the way to a storefront south of W Logan Boulevard.

Christian Hunter, owner of Hooligan which debuted at Time Out Market Chicago, has found a permanent home for his concept at 2528 N California Avenue. Like his location at the former food hall, he will be bringing dishes from both the coasts and the Midwest. An opening date has not yet been established, but it is coming sometime this fall.

Hunter was raised in Lexington, Kentucky and has always had a passion for cooking over wood fires. At Time Out Market in Fulton Market, he served many seafood options like oysters, shrimp with mayo sauce and gumbo with whitefish. He is now planning dishes like chicken liver parfait, radish paper dumplings and flavors “from the deltas and coasts that shape our region.”

The chef has many titles, as he was also a James Beard Finalist and led Atelier in Lincoln Square to get a Michelin star. For his new concept, he was looking at neighborhoods around the city and found appreciation for Logan Square’s

“There’s a mix of high brow and low brow here,” Hunter said. “It’s exactly the restaurant I’ve been chasing.”

The restaurant is coming to the east side of Logan Square, near the intersection of W Logan Boulevard. Other concepts nearby include La Liquor Panamericana and Namaste. The neighborhood’s center is about five blocks away.

Hunter said it is early in the process of opening, and development of the space is currently ongoing. More updates can be found on their Instagram @hooligan.chicago.
