With news of a restaurant not returning comes a new beginning for downtown Plainfield.
Taco Dale Cantina is expanding in Chicagoland with a second location coming to 24047 Lockport Street in the village’s downtown, as reported by Shaw Local. This follows the owners of HopScotch & Vine recently announcing they would not be reopening at the address. As of now, an opening date for the Mexican restaurant is not set.
“Our family here at HopScotch want to thank everyone for the last 14 years. We started the business with our two daughters and son. We tried to build a place where you could have a great meal and meet friends,” the owners of Hopscotch said in a recent post about not reopening the space.
Taco Dale has been around for more than 15 years, starting out in Bolingbrook and eventually expanding to Aurora, Romeoville, Lisle and St.Charles. Last year, the owners debuted their Oswego location at 123 W Washington Street. The restaurant offers a large menu of platters, patillos and dinners, birria items, seafood and soups or salads.
“From saucy wings and loaded nachos to sizzling carne asada and street tacos, we’re serving the ultimate mash-up of quick, crave-worthy bar food and bold Mexican favorites,” says the description on their website. When contacted, the owners of Taco Dale were not available for comment.
The new spot is coming to the main drag of Plainfield on Lockport Street, close to concepts like Uptown and Moe Joe’s. This is also across the street from Krema Coffee House and Dario Mercato. Plainfield is about a half-hour drive northwest of Joliet.
As it gets closer to the opening date for the Plainfield location, updates can be found on the Taco Dale Cantina Facebook page.
