A cocktail spot with a dress code is currently in the works near the Field Museum.
From Block Club Chicago, Jackson’s Ultra Lounge is a proposed cocktail concept for 1301 S Wabash next year. The space will serve food and drinks, and feature a DJ inside. An exact opening date has not been set as the construction timeline needs to be evaluated, but the team is aiming for July 2027.
Hill Hospitality Group is behind the bar, and this is their first concept in the city. Started by CTA train operator Kenneth Hill and his wife Christa, a licensed clinical social worker, the two aim to create a space for entertainment, and elevated dining. They had been seeking out the space since The Scout Waterhouse + Kitchen space closed last year.
“A luxury cocktail experience being built with intention from the ground up,” says the description on their website.
While a menu hasn’t been released, Block Club Chicago reported that a brunch menu will be offered. Dinner entrees are set to be the main options, like seafood. It is early in the process to debut menu items right now.
Jackson’s Ultra Lounge will be built at the intersection of E 13th Street and S Wabash, next to SAKANA AYCE Japanese Cuisine and AO Hawaiian Hideout. This is also across the street from Flo & Santos. It is a short walk south from the Roosevelt CTA Orange and Green line stations.
