A burger spot that has been in the village for six years has closed.
Locals of St. Charles have noticed the Wahlburgers location at 825 S Randall Road is officially closed. However, this is not the end of the brand’s presence in the village as franchisee Ed French is planning on reopening in the near future. A location and exact opening date have not been released to the public.
The team shut the location down fairly quickly as it was a same-day closure on June 29. This was due to the lease ending. They took to Facebook that day to announce the closure with “heavy hearts.”
“We can’t wait to welcome you back to our new location, more info coming soon!” Says the post.
French first debuted in July 2020, initially delayed due to the pandemic. At the time, actor Donnie Wahlberg attended the grand opening, with hundreds waiting in the audience to try the restaurant. This was the only Wahlburgers in Illinois.
Wahlburgers sat at the intersection of S Randall Road and State Route 38, next to a Chipotle and Starbucks. This was in front of a Meijer grocery store location on the west side of St. Charles. The intersection is also close to the Kane County Fairgrounds.
Wahlburgers is more than a burger spot as locations offer appetizers, sandwiches, shakes, beer and wine. Their slider flight is a popular option, with three patties including a BBQ bacon burger, crispy chicken sandwich and classic meatball. Salads are also served like the original chicken and caesar.
What Now Chicago is awaiting comment from French on the new St. Charles location.
