The owner of a deli in Little Village is getting ready to open his new shop in Lincoln Park he is calling Zeitlin’s Deli.
Sam Zeitlin takes pride in his current Zeitlin’s Delicatessen takeout location in Little Village at 3331 W 26th Street. As his many bagels, sandwiches and soups have become a success, he is expanding to 2203 N Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park. In an article from Eater Chicago, the team is planning on opening in June.
Zeitlin started out selling bagels on the street before opening his own location in Little Village. He moved to the city in 2018, and he was originally based in the Maryland/DC area and had worked in fine dining. He specializes in baking and launched his company Zeitlin Delicatessen during the pandemic.
“We’ve been building the business for the last five years,” Zeitlin told What Now Chicago.
The team recently took to social media to announce they are working on construction of the deli. They will be between Beck’s Chicago Bar & Grill and Pequod’s Pizza. Zeitlin is working with other local vendors at farmers markets to add additions to his menu at the new location, and he said going to farmers markets in the past has been a great success for building connections.
Inside the new restaurant, customers can order in the front and sit down to eat in the back. Zeitlin and his team had been looking all over Chicago for a new space, including the north side, west side and south side, and when they found the open space in Lincoln Park, they immediately knew this was their new spot.
“It was a no-brainer,” Zeitlin said.
