According to a recent post from Uptown Update, Max’s Place will reopen soon after its renovations at 4621 N Clark St.
A representative of Max’s Place did not immediately respond to What Now Chicago’s request for comment.
While the reopening date has yet to be confirmed, according to Uptown’s post, Max’s renovations will include new signage, a new logo, and interior/exterior renovations.
Micah Hilgendorf and his partner have taken on a new venture by acquiring Max’s Place along with the building that houses it. For those that are unfamiliar, Max’s Place is described as the quintessential Chicago dive bar experience, bearing the namesake of its former proprietor Maxine.
With a loyal band of “regulars,” drink specials, and an ambiance that exudes classic dive bar charm, Max’s has long held a special place in the hearts of its patrons. The menu options include varying shot specials, domestic beers, and more.
As previously mentioned, Max’s will unveil a brand-new logo in addition to the interior and exterior renovations. This addition will complement the iconic Old Style sign that has undergone a previous LED-based refurbishment. The Old Style sign, an emblematic fixture on Clark Street, will continue to bask in the vibrant charm of being fully krausened.
Hilgendorf, what one could consider a familiar face in the Chicago bar landscape, joined forces with business partner Brett Swinson to own four locations including Max’s Place. Together, they own Atmosphere (5355 N. Clark) as well as The North End and The Lucky Horseshoe, both located on Halsted, according to a previous article written this year from Uptown Update.
