Locals of Crown Point are getting excited about a new Italian concept.
From NWITimes, Sugo Italian Kitchen is the name of the new restaurant coming to 115 W Joliet Street in the city’s downtown. This was originally going to be called Parisi’s, but restaurant group Meraki Hospitality Group has decided to change the concept. An opening date has not yet been announced.
“The newest concept by Meraki Hospitality Group doesn’t try to outsmart Italian cooking, it passionately respects it: handmade pastas, wood-fired pizza, and a sauce that takes time, the way it should,” says the description on their website.
The Sugo team is not yet listing the full menu online, but it will include bold Italian flavors, and the wine will be flowing along with handcrafted cocktails. The concept is to be open late as the space will have a bar inside.
Meraki Hospitality Group has been behind concepts in and around Crown Point like Provecho Latin Provisions, Lighthouse Restaurant, Ramen District and Pappas Restaurant & Bar. It was founded by owner and Chef Chris Pappas who has been cooking from a young age. When contacted, Pappas was not available for comment.
Sugo Italian Kitchen will be in the heart of downtown Crown Point, close to Prime Steakhouse. The iconic The Grand wedding venue is right across the street. This is on the south side of W Joliet Street, and also in front of JMOTO Speedshop motorcycle shop.
The team at Meraki Hospitality are working to get the concept open sometime this year, and more details will be posted to their website as construction progresses.
