A local chef is cooking up a new all-you-can eat restaurant in the city.

A new Korean barbecue concept called Wasai BBQ is coming to the lively neighborhood at 2237 S Wentworth Avenue. It will be on the second floor of the building, and the space was formerly Won Kow restaurant. Owner Dafu Wei told What Now Chicago if all goes well with construction and inspections, he is hoping to open the concept at the beginning of June.

Wasai will be an all-you-can eat Korean barbecue concept, with raw meats like chicken, pork and beef, along with bulgogi. Dafu said the menu has a strong emphasis on pickles infused with the dishes. Drinks include beer and Korean saki.

Wei has years of experience as a sushi chef in the area. He has wanted to open his own concept, and saw the opportunity in Chinatown as it has a high amount of foot traffic. Now, he has submitted the liquor license application to get the project moving.

The restaurant is coming to the heart of Chinatown, sharing the building with Best Bar, Paris Baguette and PTS Pop Mart + Clawtopia. Wentworth Seafood House is also next to the building. This is close to the Cermak-Chinatown CTA station.

Wei has not yet set up a social media page for Wasai BBQ, but Wei will be updating the public in the coming weeks.
