A burger chain that got its footing first as a hot dog cart in New York two decades ago and has expanded to include nearly 400 locations worldwide is planning a spot in Colorado Springs. Shake Shack has submitted a proposal to city planners to take over a more than 3,000-square-foot spot in the InterQuest Town Center, according to The Gazette.
The restaurant will feature indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a drive-thru. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
Shake Shack is well known for its ShackBurger, a griddled patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce.
The menu features the Shack Stack, which includes a cheeseburger topped with a crisp-fried portobello mushroom, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. A hot dog, Buffalo chicken and crispy chicken sandwiches, and chicken bites are other entrée options.
Shake Shack’s crinkle-cut fries can be topped with Buffalo seasoning, cheese sauce, and bacon. Diners can grab a juice drink or float to wash it all down. And why not try a shake or frozen custard for dessert?
Shake Shack is expected to begin serving Colorado Springs diners at Interquest Pkwy. and New Allegiance Dr. in early 2023.
