A landmark shoe store is preparing to close its doors soon. Sole Street Shoes shared the news of its upcoming closure. Due to development challenges, rising costs, and other issues, the store is permanently closing down.
Sole Street Shoes Denver to Shut Down After 21 Years
Located inside the Denver Pavilions shopping center, Sole Street Shoes is an independent, family-owned sneaker and streetwear store. The store was originally located at 16th Street, Unit 1 in Denver, before it relocated to 500 16th St Mall Bldg 174, Denver, in 2022.
The store was founded in 2005 by Zach Monks and specializes in athletic footwear, retro styles, and streetwear. The store specializes in major athletic releases, along with other streetwear options like sports jerseys and urban fashion.
In an Instagram post, the store announced its closure. The team said the store will close after 21 years on the 16th Street Mall.
The store said additional closure details will be shared on its social media channels. Until then, the store will continue its normal timings and services.
The team added, “This store has been our home, our passion, and our connection to the Denver community for 21 years.”
The team thanked the community and said, “We’re incredibly grateful” for their continued support and love.

Reasons Behind the Closure
In the post, the store team explained that the failed redevelopment of the 16th Street Mall, rising costs including tariffs, and other challenges made its operations difficult.
They stated, “The failed remodel of 16th Street Mall, lack of support from the Business Improvement District, rising costs such as tariffs, and a sharp decline in demand for products have created challenges we can no longer overcome.”
The store admitted that it was a difficult decision, but it was the right choice for the business.
The team concluded with an appreciation note: “Thank you, Denver. Thank you for the memories, the conversations, the loyalty, and the love. Goodbye, 16th Street Mall—and thank you for 21 years.”
The upcoming closure of Sole Street Shoes will leave behind fond memories and long-lasting connections in the Denver shopping community.
