A new morning option is on the way to the suburb’s downtown.
The popular breakfast chain Bev’s Bagels has a new location in the works at 283 Hamilton Row in downtown Birmingham. This is set to be the chain’s second spot, with the other in Detroit’s Core City and an additional shop coming to Ann Arbor. Right now, the new location is set to debut sometime next month.
The chain was started by award-winning chef Max Sussman, opening his downtown Detroit location last year at 4884 Grand River Avenue. Before that, he sold his bagels at pop-up events out of his home.
Like the downtown location, Sussman will again be preparing his popular bagels with options like plain, everything and sesame. Build-your-own sandwich options are also available, and toppings include egg, bacon, chorizo and turkey, along with cheese on top. Those not interested in a bagel sandwich will also be able to choose a house chopped salad, and weekday pastries including cinnamon rolls and babkas.
The bagel spot is opening between Greek Islands Birmingham and Sy Thai Cafe. This is near downtown’s center, a short walk east of Old Woodward Avenue. Commonwealth Cafe is also across the street.
What Now Detroit has reached out to Sussman and is awaiting comment. For more updates on Bev’s Bagels, visit their Instagram page.
