From Canada to the U.S., owners of a donut brand are making their Detroit debut this year.
Homies Donuts is on the way to 23780 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, confirmed by recent social media posts from the company. The team is also planning many other locations throughout the state, most in Southeast Michigan. Owner of the location Hassan Medlej told What Now Detroit the team is opening the Dearborn spot at the end of July or beginning of August, pending inspections.
While a menu hasn’t been released, dessert creations are being teased at the window, along with “pizza donuts.” Donut staples will also be served like chocolate, cream-filled and sprinkled options. At their Canada locations, the team puts ice cream scoops on top of the doughnuts.
“Homies World Famous Donuts is bringing its famous sweet and savory creations to West Dearborn, featuring everything from pizza donuts and Dubai chocolate donuts to specialty coffee, loaded milkshakes, ice cream, and brunch,” says a post from the team on Instagram.
Medlej and his business partner Mohamed Zakaria are the master franchisees of all Homies opening in Michigan. Their other partner Terry Axiotis is the owner of the brand who created Homies and started it in Montreal, Canada.
The new donut shop is debuting the donut spot on the north side of Michigan Avenue, near the intersection of S Telegraph Road. A Sunoco gas station is right across the street, and it is also close to Leon’s Family Dining. This commercial area of Dearborn is just west of the Henry Ford Museum and the city’s downtown.
