Two local business owners have big plans for the neighborhood.
The newest Beyond Juicery + Eatery will be serving healthy options to the University District neighborhood at 17149 Livernois Avenue this summer. The brand is continuing with their franchise model, potentially looking to further expand throughout Detroit in the future. Franchisee John Smith is opening the new location with his wife, Allyson. John told What Now Detroit he is hoping to debut the eatery sometime in July.
The two have years of experience in business and marketing. John is the owner of Grindtime Fitness at 18451 Wyoming Avenue, so he already has a passion for promoting well-being.
“They’re committed to supporting their community, building real connections, and promoting healthier lifestyles in a way that feels accessible and welcoming to everyone,” says the recent announcement post on Instagram.
Beyond Juicery + Eatery is coming to the west side of Livernois, next to Captain Jay’s Fish & Chicken. This is across the street from University of Detroit Mercy, and is technically in the Bagley neighborhood. John and Allyson want to place an emphasis on supporting the Livernois Corridor.
“We love John and Allyson and their mission,” CEO Jasmine Miller told What Now Detroit.
The healthy chain is known for their smoothies, salads and wraps. Locations also serve coffees, matcha drinks and refreshers. Their sorbet bowls have become popular options, mixed with fruits, Greek yogurt and drizzled with honey.
The company operates over 40 locations across the U.S., in states including Georgia, Ohio and Florida. Eateries in Michigan include Woodhaven, White Lake, Dearborn, West Bloomfield and Ann Arbor. What Now Detroit previously covered the chain opening a shop in Commerce Township in summer 2023.
What Now Detroit is awaiting additional comment from John on the upcoming Beyond Juicery + Eatery. More information on the University District location can be found on their Instagram @beyondjuicerydetroit.
