A new passion project with baked goods is coming to the city.
Founder of restaurant collective The Pulpo Group, Sava Farah and executive pastry chef Jin Capobianco Gorian announced a new concept called Orijin Bakery, coming to downtown Ann Arbor at 617 E Liberty Street. The storefront is next to Potobox photo booth store. Farah told What Now Detroit she is planning to open the bakery in early August.
“Anyone who has been to The Boro knows that Jin is a world-class pastry chef who brings an unparalleled level of care and artistry to every baked good she creates,” Farah said in a press release. “While I’m so proud of the culinary excellence we’ve built together in Dixboro, I couldn’t be more excited to bring her incredible talent to a larger stage in a part of the city that means so much to me.”
Situated on the east side of Ann Arbor Road, the team opened The Dixboro Project first as a to-go concept The Boro in December 2020, then opened the full Dixboro House in 2021. Dixboro House has full weekend brunch, lunch and dinner menus, while The Boro sells coffees, teas, baked goods and cakes. Other restaurants under The Pulpo Group umbrella include Sava’s and Aventura, both in Ann Arbor.
For the new concept, Farah and Gorian plan on serving many of the same pastries from The Boro, along with new savory breads. It is not confirmed if drinks like coffee or tea will be served as well.
The bakery will be in an area of downtown Ann Arbor with a high amount of foot traffic, close to the S State Street intersection. This is close to Iggy’s Eggies, as well as a Starbucks on the same side of the street. It is a short walk from The State Theater and University of Michigan Main Campus.
What Now Detroit has reached out to Farah for additional comment. More updates on Orijin Bakery and the official opening date can be found on their website.
