Following their success in Clawson, the owners have found a new storefront downtown.

Loc@l is working on expanding to a second location at 44 W Columbia Street in The District Detroit. This will be at the building connected to the historic Fox Theater. Co-owner Jacob Kruk told What Now Detroit he and the team are hoping to open by March Madness in 2027.

Jacob operates the Clawson spot at 143 E 14 Mile Road in Clawson with his father, George Kruk. The two are also owners of Kruk Cards, a sports trading cards business based in Rochester. They debuted the first Loc@l in September 2024, and many had recommended Detroit to be their second location.

“The consensus was Detroit,” Jacob said.

With the concept being drinks-centric, those visiting can expect five specialty cocktails, a beer and shot menu, as well as wines and seltzers. The space will feature 12 taps that pour out both classics and local breweries’ creations. This is basically a copy of their Clawson spot.

From a Crain’s Detroit Business article, the space will be 1,800 square feet and has the capacity for 120 guests. A patio is also being built outside for additional seating. This is meant to be a spot for a drink after dining at one of the concepts along W Columbia Street.

Loc@l is coming to the west side of Woodward Avenue, next to Frida Batidos’ Detroit location. This is also across from Sunda New Asian and Union Assembly. The District is on the north side of downtown.
