A discount chain is again seeking expansion in the suburbs.
A new Dollar Tree location may be on the way to 33877 Woodward Avenue, from reports. This would open at a former CVS near the suburb’s downtown. An opening date has not yet been established as the project still has to go through city approval.
The chain is currently seeking approval from the city’s Design Review Board, per an article from Crain’s Detroit Business. This happens on Wednesday, and ongoing conversations are due to locals’ concerns about whether the storefront fits in the community.
What Now Detroit recently covered another Dollar Tree location planned for 22346 Woodward Avenue in Ferndale. The company looks to be expanding in the Metro Detroit region. This is in an area of the suburb with heavy foot traffic.
At any Dollar Tree around the country, shoppers can find items from many departments including kitchen and dining, arts and crafts, food and drinks, office supplies and cleaning equipment. The stores also sell holiday party supplies, and Fourth of July items are now being rolled out.
The storefront is at the intersection of Woodward and Ruffler avenues, just north of Hollywood Feed pet store. This side of the road has other retail storefronts like an AT&T store, Woodward Camera and American Mattress & Hastens. The address is a few blocks south of downtown Birmingham.
What Now Detroit has reached out to representatives from Dollar Tree and is awaiting comment.
