A new AutoZone store is planned for Kingwood, with project documents outlining a sizable new development at 1378 Northpark Drive. The project was registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation last month and is listed as a multi-million-dollar new construction build.
According to the TDLR registration, the property will be approximately 25,453 square feet, with an estimated construction cost of more than $2.5 million. Work is scheduled to begin in January and wrap up by late summer, but an opening date is unknown at this time.
Lennar Homes of Texas Land and Construction LTD is listed as the property’s owner, and Helt Design is named as the design firm handling the architectural process.
Maps show that the closest nearby AutoZone locations that are currently operating are in Humble and Porter. There is an Advance Auto Parts, a competitor, already in Kingwood, just down the road.
AutoZone traces its history to 1979, when its first store opened in Arkansas, its website shares. In the decades since, the automotive replacement-parts retailer has grown to more than 6,700 stores across the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
