My Fit Foods is coming in hot with a new offering for the Greater Houston community and its visitors. According to a recent state permit, My Fit Foods plans to open a new retail store for prepackaged meals in the Rice Military neighborhood at 5535 Memorial Dr., Suite A.
The permit details that construction on the new My Fit Foods retail spot will start at the end of August and is slated to wrap up by the end of November. If all goes well with permitting and the estimated $180,000 construction project, the new My Fit Foods shop should be open by this winter. The scope of work for the 1,446-square-foot space confirmed that there will be no cooking or prep on site.
“Lease Space Remodel for New Prepackaged Meals Retail Store. No cooking or Prep is to be done on site, “retail only,” the permit reads.
What Now Houston briefly spoke with My Fit Foods Chief Construction Officer Shannon Ready about the upcoming opening. Ready confirmed the opening but was unable to share further details by the time of this publication. What Now also reached out to My Fit Foods’ Chief Operating Officer, Nick Travaille. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time this publication was published.
My Fit Foods was founded by Mario Mendia in 2006. The personal trainer began cooking healthy meals in his Houston apartment for busy clients and turned that into a booming business, opening his first official retail store in Houston in 2007.
There are now 12 active My Fit Foods locations in the United States. While the majority lies in the state of Texas, there are also locations in Oregon and Colorado.
