Jimmy John’s, a sandwich shop known for fresh baked bread and made to order sandwiches, is planning to open a new location in Middleburg at 1545 Branan Field Road, Suite 19.
Franchise owner Grant Roehm has submitted documents to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for the new location in the Plantation Crossing shopping center. An opening date has not been announced. It is unclear which previous tenant the new Jimmy John’s will replace, though the space may be the former GameStop location.
The Middleburg restaurant will add another location to the brand’s presence in the area, with existing Jimmy John’s restaurants in Jacksonville. The company’s franchise system includes nearly 3,000 locations and approximately 700 small business owners, according to Jimmy John’s.
The menu includes Jimmy John’s Original sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, wraps, Little Johns, combos, sides, drinks, and desserts. Popular sandwiches include The Pepe, Turkey Tom, Vito, and The Veggie, while the Gargantuan features five meats and provolone. Customers can also order sandwiches as an Unwich, which replaces the bread with a lettuce wrap.
Jimmy John’s traces its history to 1983, when the first restaurant opened in Charleston, Illinois. The original menu featured four sandwiches made with meats sliced fresh in-store and fresh-baked bread. The company opened its first franchise location in 1994 and has since expanded into a nationwide restaurant chain.
The Middleburg location will bring Jimmy John’s sandwich menu and ordering options to Plantation Crossing. The company offers in-store, delivery, curbside, and drive-thru service at select locations. Additional details about the Middleburg restaurant, including its opening date and whether it will include a drive-thru, have not been announced.
