Hot Dog on a Stick has a new owner, and he’s a well-known Vegas businessman and staple. Stephen Siegel, founder of Amazing Brands, recently announced that an affiliate of his company has acquired Hot Dog on a Stick® through a bankruptcy court-approved transaction, according to a press release.

“When the opportunity arose to acquire the company, we saw a chance to preserve and grow a brand that has been part of American culture for nearly 80 years,” Siegel said in an interview with What Now Las Vegas

“We retained all of the corporate team, many of whom have been with Hot Dog on a Stick for more than 20 and even 25 years, along with the majority of the team members throughout the system. We call them Hot Doggers, and they are a huge part of what makes this brand so special.”

The brand went through a Chapter 11 process, creating the opportunity for new ownership, and Siegel jumped at it. The plan is to support existing locations and work on long-term growth, including right here in Nevada, especially the Las Vegas Valley.

“Las Vegas is a very important market for us, and we absolutely plan to open locations in the Las Vegas Valley,” Siegel said.

“While we are not ready to announce specific sites yet, we are actively evaluating opportunities and expect Las Vegas to be a key growth market for the brand. We are exploring multiple locations throughout the valley, including a flagship location on the Las Vegas Strip.”

While initial growth will likely be corporate-owned locations, Seigel assured us that he is committed to growing through both corporate development and franchising in the future. So, Hot Doggers and business owners get ready!

Hot Dog on a Stick was founded by Dave Barham in Santa Monica near Muscle Beach back in 1946. What started as an ice cream and lemonade stand called Party Puffs transformed into a booming brand focused on an amazing corn dog recipe. The brand even pioneered the shopping mall food court concept.

“Hot Dog on a Stick is one of America’s most iconic restaurant brands,” Siegel said.

“Hot Dog on a Stick is more than a restaurant—it’s an experience. It’s a fun, energetic, nostalgic brand built around fresh food, hand-stomped lemonade, colorful uniforms, and memorable customer interactions. Few brands have the emotional connection and recognition that Hot Dog on a Stick enjoys across multiple generations.”

And Siegel has a knack for this.

The American entrepreneur and commercial real estate investor is best known as the founder and CEO of The Siegel Group and Amazing Brands. He grew up self-taught after dropping out of the ninth grade, building early success in auto repair, manufacturing, and real estate, turning distressed properties into thriving commercial assets. But, he didn’t stop there.

After buying a one-bay auto repair shop at age 21 and scaling it into a large collision center, and acquiring a major stake in Uncle Howie Products, Siegel founded The Siegel Group in 2001 to manage growing multi-family and commercial real estate investments. He later established Amazing Brands to manage food, beverage, and hospitality acquisitions, expanding local institution footprints with properties like Pinkbox Doughnuts, Siegel’s Bagelmania, Piero’s Italian Cuisine, and now Hot Dog on a Stick.

“Our goal is to preserve what people love about Hot Dog on a Stick while investing in the future of the brand. We want to create great career opportunities, deliver memorable guest experiences, support local communities, and introduce a new generation of customers to this iconic American brand,” Siegel said.

“The loyalty of the Hot Dogger family is remarkable. Former and current Hot Doggers from across the country have already been reaching out to share their stories, and we’re excited to bring that community together as we grow the brand.”

There are now 44 corporate-owned and franchised Hot Dog on a Stick restaurants, primarily located in US shopping malls. Most recently, the brand started doing food trucks, one of which serves the Las Vegas Valley. Nevada has two other locations, one in the Boulevard Mall and another in the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson.

“This is just the beginning. Hot Dog on a Stick has been sticking smiles on faces since 1946, and we believe the brand’s best days are ahead. We are honored to be the stewards of such an iconic company and are committed to growing it while staying true to the qualities that have made it special for nearly eight decades,” Siegel said.

“We see significant opportunities to grow Hot Dog on a Stick through traditional restaurants, drive-thrus, entertainment districts, stadiums, amusement parks, travel centers, and select mall locations. We believe the brand has tremendous potential both domestically and internationally.”

Besides the famous Hot Dog on a Stick, the brand is known and beloved for its fresh hand-stomped lemonadefries, and frozen lemonade.

“While we will continue to innovate, our focus is on preserving the iconic products that have made the brand famous for generations,” Siegel said.

“We are also developing and testing new offerings, including Chicken on a Stick, Zucchini on a Stick, Breakfast Sausage on a Stick, Spicy Sausage on a Stick, and new sparkling and energized lemonade varieties.”

As the excitement mounts for the Hot Dog on a Stick Las Vegas flagship store, the acquisition of the brand by a Las Vegas staple hits home in more ways than one.

“This acquisition is especially meaningful to me personally because I grew up with the brand. Even more special, my wife Judi was the General Manager of the Hot Dog on a Stick location at Montebello Town Center during the 1990s,” Siegel said.

“Hot Dog on a Stick has been part of our lives for decades, which makes it an incredible honor to help lead the brand into its next chapter.”

Hot Dog on a Stick is formally under the new ownership of Stephen Siegel and the Amazing Brands. Stay on the lookout for the next Las Vegas opening; we’re sure Hot Doggers will be pleased.
