A popular Memphis bakery may soon be bringing the enchanting smell of freshly-baked bread to a new kitchen. The owners of Ginger’s Bread & Co. have filed permits indicating they hope to begin preparing their delicious offerings in a S Cooper Street space.
Ginger’s Bread & Co. has a certificate of occupancy under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for 62 S Cooper Street as of July 17. The application indicates that little if any work will need to be completed for Ginger’s to move in, describing the project as “Change of tenant application to use existing baking kitchen.”
The form further indicates that Ginger’s-described as both a “restaurant” and a “bakery”-will span 2,000 square feet and will have an occupant load of 3.
Ginger’s Bread & Co. burst onto the Memphis dining scene in June of 2022. Owned by Jimmy Hoxie and Grant Whittle, the bakery serves up an array of delectable treats, both savory and sweet, at 1613 Union Avenue. Jimmy Hoxie’s baked goods are sure to delight; he has a wealth of experience, described on the website as: “He grew up cooking and baking with his mother and grandmother. He has worked in the kitchens at Disney World, Viking Range Corp., Bonne Terre, La Tourelle, Bach’s Lunch, Sur La Table, The Liquor Store, and Crosstown Arts.’
