The countdown is on for one of Memphis’s most hotly anticipated additions to the local dining scene. Gussied Up, the latest from the team behind Hard Times Deli, will be opening next month, reports local media outlet Memphis Flyer.

Gussied Up will be sharing space but not hours with Hard Times at 655 Marshall Avenue. Gussied Up will allow owners Harrison Downing, Cole Jeanes, and Schuyler O’Brien to serve customers-albeit in different settings and with different vibes-for more hours out of the day. Jeanes offers this tidy summation: “Lunch is Hard Times. Dinner is Gussied Up.”

The bar and restaurant concept will be open Wednesday through Saturday, from 5 to 11 pm and from 10 am to 8 pm on Sunday. Gussied Up has given brunch enthusiasts something to look forward to; the eatery will be offering that beloved hybrid meal on Sundays, from 10 am to 2 pm.

While Gussied Up will be offering a more refined interpretation of bar food classics, ownership is clear about welcoming in every hungry or thirsty customer. Downing states: “We want people where our neighborhood is. We want a dude in a suit sitting next to a guy covered in grease having a beer and a shot before going home.”

The Gussied Up menu will be chock full of delicious comfort food. Guests will be able to feast on reimaginings of some fast food favorites, including the “Ourby’s”-a take on the Arby’s roast beef sandwich and a Filet O’ Phish. Of course, no bar is complete without a burger and Gussied Up is bringing its incredibly popular smash burger to the table.

Gussied Up will heavily favor the color red, with black, blue, and white tiled floors. The restaurant will have a unique but nostalgic quality, featuring neon beer signs, chandeliers over the booths, and bar tops made from repurposed bowling lanes.

An exact opening date is not yet available for Gussied Up, however ownership anticipates being customer-ready in August. The concept is currently actively hiring staff, according to the website. Excited locals can follow Gussied Up’s social media for important updates and tantalizing looks at what’s to come.
