A popular Memphis-area food truck is pulling up to its first brick-and-mortar and it’s bringing delicious Afro-Caribbean dining with it. M and M Kitchen is preparing to serve its signature cuisine in a Second Street storefront-and it has the paperwork to prove it.
The restaurant has a certificate of occupancy under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for 16 S Second Street, as of July 20. The submitted paperwork shows that M and M Kitchen will have 2,120 square feet of space in which to greet and serve customers upon opening.
M and M Kitchen will continue serving up the delicious and authentic dishes that have made it an area favorite, but it will now have the opportunity to offer the full restaurant experience. The certificate of occupancy describes the vision for the space saying: “M & M Kitchen will operate as a full-service Afro-Caribbean restaurant specializing in authentic African and Caribbean cuisine. The establishment will prepare and serve freshly cooked meals for dine-in and takeout customers. Future delivery services may also be offered through third-party delivery platforms.”
M and M Kitchen has built a devoted fanbase through its flavorful menu, which features dishes like oxtail pasta, jollof rice, and various jerk meats. It is not yet clear when, precisely, the restaurant will be open; the certificate of occupancy is a good indicator that M and M Kitchen will be ready soon. The restaurant website says only that it will be “opening soon”.
