The Memphis burger scene is getting a little juicier. After making a powerful splash on the area Mexican food scene, busy restaurateur Abraham Valenzuela is turning his attention to America’s favorite sandwich with Chukis Burgers, a new concept working its way through the permitting process.
Chukis Burgers will be serving up hot patties at 5865 Poplar Avenue, suite 112, not far from Chukis Tacos, another Valenzuela restaurant. The burger joint currently has a certificate of occupancy under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development which states that the business use will be “Restaurant with sandwiches and burgers”.
Chukis Burgers does not yet have a digital footprint and information pertaining to the concept is at a premium. However Valenzuela’s involvement is certain to stir excitement in future customers. In addition to Chukis Tacos, the hospitality vet has previously launched Asaderos Mexican Grill and Rancho Grande.
An opening timeline is not yet available for Chukis Burgers; the certificate of occupancy remains under review as of October 29.
