Fort Lauderdale is getting ready for some frozen treats when Whit’s Frozen Custard opens in North Fort Lauderdale.

South Florida Custard FTL LLC recently filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to open a Whit’s Frozen Custard at 4336 N. Federal Highway, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard. The frozen custard shop is expected to open fall 2026.

Whit’s Frozen Custard specializes in premium frozen custard, which is generally prized for its creamy and thick texture due to the higher butterfat content than traditional ice cream. The frozen custard is also slow-whipped to reduce air in the product, giving custard its dense creaminess.

At Whit’s frozen custard is made fresh daily using milk, cream, sugar, and eggs. The custard is offers in vanilla, chocolate, and a rotating weekly special flavor. Custard can be enjoyed in a cup or cone or in sundaes and ice cream sandwiches.  Whit’s also offers “Whitzers”, frozen custard blended with a choice of toppings.

Founded in 2003 by Chuck and Lisa Whitman in Granville, Ohio, Whit’s has grown to more than 100 locations throughout the Midwest and Southeast, including nearly two dozen locations throughout Florida.
