McDonald’s is getting ready to open a new location in Magog on Rue Sherbrooke, across from Walmart.
The new location is expected to open in October 2026, according to La Tribune. Franchise owner Caroline Iannuzzi, who operates seven existing McDonald’s restaurants across the Estrie region, will oversee the new restaurant. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the company tells WhatNow Montreal that this site is expected to open in Fall 2026. Customers can expect McDonald’s core menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, breakfast items, beverages, and drive-thru service.
Construction is already underway on the vacant site along Rue Sherbrooke, where the restaurant will be built directly across from Walmart. The new restaurant will feature a design similar to the McDonald’s location that recently opened in Sherbrooke’s Quartier Santé district. The layout is intended to reflect changing customer habits, with a greater emphasis on takeout, mobile ordering, and drive-thru service. The restaurant will also include two vehicle access points to help manage traffic flow.
The opening marks another step in McDonald’s continued growth throughout the Estrie region. The new Magog restaurant will become her eighth franchise and further expand the brand’s presence in the area. The company employs hundreds of workers across its existing restaurants.
McDonald’s traces its roots back to 1954, when Ray Kroc discovered a small hamburger restaurant in California and helped launch what would become one of the world’s largest restaurant brands. McDonald’s Canada opened its first restaurant in Richmond, British Columbia, in 1967. Today, the company serves more than 2.5 million customers daily through over 1,400 locations nationwide.
