A local restaurant hospitality group is preparing to introduce a new coastal Italian concept called Mare Porto Vecchio, located in Montreal at 438 Rue Saint-Pierre.
This is the latest from Novantuno Hospitality, led by restaurateur Massimo Lecas, who tells What Now Montreal that this restaurant is expected to open on June 15, 2025. When Mare opens, customers can expect an upscale fine dining concept with plenty of fresh seafood and Italian cuisine. While little details regarding this new concept have yet to be revealed, it’s expected to have high expectations, mainly because it’s the latest concept from Novantuno Hospitality, which has made a name for itself through its other exciting restaurant concepts.
Novantuno Hospitality is responsible for several popular dining establishments in Montreal, including Fiorellino, an upscale pizzeria known for its high-quality ingredients; Porchetta, a quaint sandwich shop specializing in porchetta sandwiches; and Stellina, an artisan pasta restaurant in Old Montreal. The group was also behind the renowned supper club Buonanotte, which has since closed. The name “Novantuno” commemorates the opening year of Buonanotte, symbolizing a rich history in the city’s dining scene.
This location is perfect for the restaurant’s debut. The area around 438 Rue Saint-Pierre in Old Montreal is ideal for a new establishment like Mare, mainly because of the foot traffic that comes through this part of town. It is close to popular attractions such as the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Old Port, and Place Jacques-Cartier, drawing in tourists and locals. With well-known restaurants nearby, like Le Club Chasse et Pêche and Garde Manger, this vibrant area provides an excellent opportunity for Mare to stand out and attract hungry visitors seeking a great dining experience.
